

Our mission is to bless 60 Roanoke families struggling with food insecurity with all the ingredients they need for blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends.
2025 Mission Details
🧺 What's Included
Our families receive a whole cornucopia of food to help them prepare a memorable Thanksgiving feast. Each family receives groceries for all the holiday classics, including:
Gift certificate for turkey or ham
Turkey gravy
Cranberry sauce
Stuffing
Cornbread mix
Dinner rolls
Instant potatoes
Canned vegetables
Ingredients for green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole
Cake mix with their choice of frosting
We also include a Kroger gift card for purchasing fresh and perishable ingredients, a Bible and 40-day devotional, a resource guide with helpful information, and our Thanksgiving rubber duck.
📝 Nominations & Eligibility
We rely on the Roanoke community to help us identify families who could use a little extra support this Thanksgiving. You can nominate any family living in the Roanoke Valley--including Roanoke City/County, Salem or Vinton--regardless of income.
Nominations will be accepted from November 1-13.
📅 Food Distribution
Families will be able to pick up their bags of food during our Pick-Up Days in mid-November at Heights Community Church.
Ahead of the event, we'll confirm the exact date, time, and address with each family to ensure a smooth and organized experience.

How do I sign up or get nominated?
To sign up, simply fill out this Nomination Form and let us know you'd like to self-nominate. We welcome nominations for any person/family living the Roanoke Valley--including Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Vinton and Salem. Please note: we can only provide one bag of food per address. Nominations will be accepted November 1-13.
Do I need to keep any of the ingredients cold?
No refrigeration is needed! Our Thanksgiving menu includes shelf-stable ingredients, so you won't need to keep anything cold. We provide a $25 gift certificate--redeemable at Kroger and Food Lion only--which you can use to purchase a turkey or ham and fruits and vegetables. We also provide a Kroger gift card to purchase other perishable ingredients.
What's included in the bag of food?
Each family receives groceries for a full Thanksgiving meal, a Kroger gift card for fresh ingredients, a Bible, a 40-day devotional, a resource guide, and a Thanksgiving rubber duck.
Do I need to bring anything to pick up my food?
Yes, please bring a form of identification (driver's license, state ID, etc.) and your email confirmation.
When and where do I pick up the food?
Pick-Up Days will be held in mid-November at Heights Community Church, located across from the Grandin Theatre in the Grandin Village. We'll reach out via email with the exact date, time, and location ahead of the event.
My family member has a food allergy. Are you able to accommodate?
Yes! Please include any allergy information when you fill out the Nomination Form, or let our volunteers know when we contact you to confirm your pick-up details. We'll do our best to make thoughtful substitutions or adjustments based on the information you provide.

Our budget for this Mission was $5,000 ($100/family for 50 families). We are incredibly grateful for our donors, business partners, volunteers, and board members. We deeply appreciate Heights Community Church for collecting food for us and allowing us to borrow their space, Kroger for working with us, and for Cone Realty Group for collecting food for us as well! All surplus funds will be used to help families for our Easter Mission.
