For our Thanksgiving Mission, we are planning to bless at least 35 families in the Roanoke area with all the ingredients for Thanksgiving.

2023 Mission Details

Family Nominations

For the families we help, we look to the Roanoke community to identify families that may need help for Thanksgiving. Any family who lives in Roanoke City or County can be nominated. We don't verify income or have any other qualifications because any one of us could be living comfortably one day and struggling to make ends meet the next day.

Cornucopia of Food

Our goal is to bless families wholly and completely with a box of food for Thanksgiving so we give everything they need to put dinner together. Each family receives a gift certificate for turkey/ham, a jar of gravy, cranberry sauce, canned yams, canned vegetables, dinner rolls, stuffing, green bean casserole, apple sauce, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread/biscuit mix. We also give our families a gift card to Kroger/Food Lion (for essentials), a Thanksgiving rubber duck, a personal note from us, a devotional, and a resource guide.

Total Budget

The cost per family varies year-to-year as inflation causes us to reassess our budget. We estimate that it will cost $100 per family and we will need to raise $3,500 altogether. We aim to be good stewards of the resources that God gives us, so we do our best to buy food at the best price even if we have to visit five stores to do it.

For our Mission Menu, we are intentional with the food we choose and we only give brands we use in our own homes. We rely on donations to accomplish our Thanksgiving Mission each year. Our goal this year is to raise $3,500 to fully provide Thanksgiving for at least 35 families in the Roanoke area. Donations are tax-deductible.
